Card centering calculator

Enter the four margins (card edge to printed frame) in millimetres. You get the left:right and top:bottom ratios and whether the card is within PSA, BGS, CGC, SGC and TAG limits.

Pixels work too — the ratio is the same as long as all four use the same unit.

Measuring margins with a ruler is the hard part: 0.1 mm changes the verdict. The app measures all four edges from a photo automatically.

How centering is calculated

left share = left ÷ (left + right) × 100

Example: 2.8 mm left and 2.2 mm right gives 2.8 ÷ 5.0 = 56%, written 56/44. The wider side must be 55 or less for PSA 10 on the front, so 56/44 fails.

How much shift costs a PSA 10?

With S = left + right, the allowed difference at 55/45 is S × 0.1. On a 2.5 mm border (S = 5 mm) that is 0.5 mm, i.e. a 0.25 mm offset from centre.

FAQ

How do I calculate card centering?
Divide one margin by the sum of the two opposite margins: left ÷ (left + right) × 100. A card with 2.8 mm left and 2.2 mm right is 56/44.
What centering is needed for PSA 10?
55/45 or better on the front and 75/25 or better on the back.
Can I use pixels instead of millimetres?
Yes. The ratio is unit-free as long as all four margins use the same unit and the photo is not tilted.
Why does my ruler measurement disagree with the app?
A 0.5 mm ruler cannot resolve the 0.25 mm that separates 55/45 from a pass, and hand-placed lines drift with tilt. The app detects the edges and corrects perspective.
